One Hundred Years at the Library: Scrapbooks through the Decades

Look back on one hundred years of the Frick Art Reference Library by exploring some of the fascinating objects that shaped its history. In this debut episode, Stephen J. Bury, Andrew W. Mellon Chief Librarian, introduces five large scrapbooks kept by staff from the 1920s to 1999. They contain documents, letters, and press clippings alongside party invitations, drawings and poems by staff, photographs, and even handwritten annotations by founder Helen Clay Frick. The scrapbooks provide rich snapshots into the evolution of the library as it happened in real time.
